Though this will probably be one of the last spaces that gets wrapped up – I thought I’d share a bit about what we’re planning to do for the powder room. I’ve always loved a dark and moody powder room – but given the fact that this one is also the bathroom that you’ll be using during pool season – I was torn between going light and airy or just embracing the dark.

Materials & Fixtures:
After fully committing that dark & moody is where we wanted to go with it – the challenge was finding materials. I would have loved to run our hardwood in the space – but given that the flooring in here and just outside of this bathroom would lead to our backyard where the pool is – I knew tile would be the best option. Because I planned on doing a very veined & busy marble look porcelain for the vanity console – finding a tile that would work well in both the powder room and the back entry was a tough task. We had thought of doing a light limestone toned brick tile in a herringbone pattern – but for ease of cleaning and maintenance decided it wasn’t the best option.
I did end up finding the perfect Arabescato Venato White Honed Marble stack tile that pulls out a lot of the colours we’re doing in both the main floor / kitchen as well as the powder room. To bring the warmth of the wood I wanted into the space – we’re doing a floating shelf below the vanity console and may even install our hardwood on the ceiling.
Once all is done – we’ll add some picture frame moulding to the walls for added detail and texture in the space.
